Four steps, from first day to big school.
Each group has its own room, its own rhythm and its own pair of teachers. Children move up in June, together with the friends they started with.
Programme 01
Playgroup
9:00 – 11:30
1 teacher : 6 children
Two and a half hours, three of them spent moving. The goal for the year is not academic at all — it is that your child learns being here is safe and rather good fun.
In a typical week
- Sensory trays: rice, water, dough, foam
- Nursery rhymes with actions, in two languages
- Gross motor: climbing frame, tunnels, balance beam
- First experience of tidying up as a group
- Toilet training supported, never rushed
Programme 02
Nursery
9:00 – 12:30
1 teacher : 8 children
The year language takes off. Children arrive with a handful of words and leave holding a conversation — and, usually, holding a firm opinion.
In a typical week
- Circle time with calendar, weather and news
- Story sequencing and picture-talk
- Pre-number: sorting, matching, one-to-one counting
- Cutting, threading, pouring — fine motor control
- First group projects and turn-taking
Programme 03
Junior KG
9:00 – 1:00
1 teacher : 8 children
Letters and numbers arrive this year, through hands rather than worksheets. Sandpaper letters before pencils; counting objects before counting on paper.
In a typical week
- Phonic sounds and letter formation in sand
- Numbers to 20 with concrete materials
- Show-and-tell — speaking to the group
- Simple science: floating, growing, melting
- Garden plot: each child plants and waters their own
Programme 04
Senior KG
9:00 – 1:00
1 teacher : 8 children
The bridge year. By June we want a child who can sit through a lesson, ask a question in front of thirty people, and manage their own bag, bottle and shoes.
In a typical week
- Blending sounds into words; first independent reading
- Writing sentences, not just letters
- Addition and subtraction within 20
- A term-long project of the child’s choosing
- Big-school readiness: bags, lunch, lining up, listening
